Hybrid on demand:
Cost-efficient Transmission Technologies meet the needs of different Hybrid Vehicles
Hybrid vehicles will continue to contribute to reducing CO2 emissions. Both hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) will have a significant market share, and Magna can support all global requirements.
- Hybrid vehicle requirements vary significantly from region to region, and have become an important step toward electrification.
- Magna's wide range of scalable hybrid systems are based on decades of mature transmission technology, covering OEM requirements for different vehicle applications.
Product Highlight DHD Duo
Achieving zero emissions is like a long-distance run. But we have enough experience and stamina.
- The Dedicated Hybrid Drive DHD Duo is a two e-motor system suitable for HEV applications, deliviering outstanding performance, high drivability, and comfort even when driving in congested traffic.
- DHD Duo was developed in a platform approach, scalable in power and in number of gears to meet B to E vehicle segment requirements.
Mild Hybrid
Magna’s 7HDT300 and 7HDT400 hybrid transmissions optimize the saving potential of 48 V hybrid drives, while being more cost-effective than high-voltage hybrid drives. Both set a benchmark for power density and efficiency, and offer interchangeable flexibility with conventional vehicle platforms. In addition, the Magna 48 volt solution is the first in the market to enable all-electric driving in a series application.
- Magna's hybrid transmissions feature a torque-split architecture with an integrated e-motor, offering convenient electric driving capability and up to 19% fuel efficiency improvement compared to DCT.
- These transmissions provide reliability, safety, and high performance with the reuse of mature technologies, ASIL C compliance, up to 400 Nm ICE torque capacity, and a class-leading torque-to-weight ratio. They also ensure high commonality with all DCT-based Magna transmissions.
HEV
Leveraging extensive experience with hybridized dual-clutch transmissions, Magna's Dedicated Hybrid Drives (DHD) simplify hybrid concepts by incorporating a powerful e-motor. Shifting the vehicle's dynamic operation towards the e-motor minimizes the need for several gears, resulting in a more cost-effective hybrid transmission solution.
- Dedicated hybrid drive with minimum mechanical complexity
- Serial-parallel architecture for B to E segment and SUVs
PHEV
The DHD Eco is a cost-efficient plug-in hybrid drive featuring a powerful 120 kW e-motor for dynamic driving situations in hybrid mode. It optimizes combustion engine usage, reduces fuel consumption and emissions, while enhancing traction, launch acceleration, and stop-and-go operation. This compact and efficient drive suits the B and C segments, offering flexibility and adaptability to different market requirements as part of Magna's modular building blocks.
- The DHD Eco is a cost-efficient plug-in hybrid transmission that reduces fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions
- Modular and scalable design makes it adaptable to different vehicle segments and range requirements
